Witae Village → Jinejae Pass → Oyul Village → Gunghang Village → Yangiteo Village → Yangiteojae Pass → Nabon Village → Hadongho Lake
This section of Jirisan Dulle-gil is a 11.8km stretch between Witae-ri, Okjong-myeon and Jungi-ri, Cheongam-myeon in Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. The section between Sangchon Village, Witae-ri, Okjong-myeon and Sangi-ri (Hadongho Lake), Cheongam-myeon in Hadong-gun includes Witae (Sangchon), Oyul (Odaesa Temple Site), Gunghang, and Bonchon (Nabon) Villages.
The Witae-Hadong Section is situated in the southern part of Jirisan Mountain. All the other sections until this point were around Nakdonggang River, but the sections from this point on will be along Seomjingang River. The streamlets in Jirisan join Nakdonggang River to the north, and Seomjingang River to the south. Even the groves and forests will look different from this point. The mountain trail passes through a bamboo grove as well as a lush forest. The sound of the forest and the wind in the bamboo grove will take your mind away. So before you know it, you’ll find yourself out of the forest and standing in front of a lake.
You’ll also find that the scenery of Hadongho Lake at the foot of Jirisan Mountain is quite different from that of the valleys and reservoir. So if you look over the lake, it may feel like you’re in a totally different world. There is always more to what you see and hear.
When you make it out of the forest and stand in front of Hadongho Lake, you may feel like you have just entered a new world that’s different in its entirety. It’s just like a passage in the novel Demian: “The bird struggles out of the egg. The egg is the world. Whoever wants to be born, must destroy a world."
