Located on Odojae Pass, Hamyang, the Jirisan Observatory Park and the First Gateway are a great vantage point commanding an extensive view of the mountain. Odojae is listed as one of the 100 Most Beautiful Roads by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, and it’s the road you want to take if you want to reach the park and the gate. The place is one of the best vantage points in the area that offer a panoramic view of the mountain. It’s also serves as a rest area with various accommodation facilities.

Built in 2006, the First Gateway of Jirisan Mountain stands 7.6m high and 7.7m wide in the middle of a 38.7m high wall. In addition to being a natural vantage point where you can see Cheonwangbong Peak and the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range near Nogodan Peak, it’s also the main point of entry to the trail that allows you to reach the top of Cheonwangbong and come back down the mountain in one day. The First Gateway to Jirisan Mountain at the top of Odojae on the Regional Road No. 1023 was built in harmony with the natural surroundings. Today, it’s established as one of the most popular tourist attractions of Hamyang-gun.

Just inside the gate, there are a number of convenient public facilities such as two rest areas, restroom, observatory, Jangseung Park, and Sibi Park.
