Odojae is one of the 100 Most Beautiful Roads of Korea designated by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Maritime Affairs. It stretches between Hamyangp-eup and Macheon-myeon, and leads to Chilseon Valley and Baengmudong Valley of Jirisan Mountain with a beautiful scenery in between. It's probably the best drive not only in Hamyang, but the whole of Gyeongsangnam-do.

Odojae used to be the hill that every merchant from the inland must pass in order to reach the marketplaces of Jirisan where they can trade with those from the South Coast. It was named as such because it is said that a Buddhist monk named Ino (1548~1623) attained spiritual enlightenment while practicing Buddhist meditation at Dosoram Hermitage near Eomcheonsa Temple in Macheon, Hamyang, during which time he had to climb this hill many times.

Located on Odojae Pass, Hamyang, the Jirisan Observatory Park and the First Gateway are a great vantage point commanding an extensive view of the mountain. Odojae is listed as one of the 100 Most Beautiful Roads by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, and it’s the road you want to take if you want to reach the park and the gate. The place is one of the best vantage points in the area that offer a panoramic view of the mountain. It’s also serves as a rest area with various accommodation facilities.
