The Cherry Blossom Road is often the first thing that comes to the minds of those who have visited Ssanggyesa Temple. The 6km-section between Hwagae-ri and Unsu-ri, Hwagae-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do approximately 21㎞ from Gurye-eup, Jeollanam-do, is very popular in the spring among cherry blossom lovers because of the cherry blossom trees lining up along the road. It’s where Ssanggyesa Temple is.

Built in the Silla Dynasty, the temple was burnt down during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592 and then restored in 1632. There are other popular tourist attractions around the temple, including the Buril Falls standing 60m high and 3m wide about 2㎞ northeast of the temple in between the two valleys of Cheonghakbong Peak and Baekhakbong Peak.
