Jangteomok of Jirisan Mountain is the wide top of a hill between Jeseokbong (1,806m) and Yeonhabong (1,730m) Peaks. This was the hilly path that people from Sancheong, Hamyang, and Namwon used to access other villages.
People from Sancheong, Hamyang, and Namwon all bartered with each other. People from Sancheong came through Beopcheon Valley, upstream of Jungsalli Valley, to get to Jangteomok while people from Hamyang and Namwon followed Baengmudong Valley to come to Jangteomok, exchanging goods and asking after each other’s welfare.

Currently, Jangteomok is used as a base that people must transit through in order to climb the highest peak of Jirisan Mountain, Cheonwangbong Peak. Jangteomok Shelter is operated by the Jirisan National Park Service. From Jangteomok Shelter, it takes about 90 minutes to climb to Cheonwangbong Peak, the highest peak on Jirisan Mountain, through Jeseokbong and Tongcheonmun Gate.
