Jeseokbong is the third highest peak after Cheonwangbong (1,915m) and Jungbong (1,874m). With the neighboring Cheonwangbong, the area is considered mystical, and near the western summit of the mountain, there is a sacrificial altar as well as a spring from which clear water flows. In between Jangteomok and Cheonwangbong, the dead trees of Jeseokbong catch the attention of hikers passing by. There are barely any living trees on the gently-sloping grassland and the environment appears barren and desolate.

It may be usual for the hikers to think that this is just how Jeseokbong Peak looks however, it had a very beautiful and dense forest made up of fir trees, pine nut trees, and Korean fir trees up until the end of the Korean War. There were not only trees, but other vegetation was abundant as well.
