Situated in Daepo-ri, Samjang-myeon, Sancheong-gun, Naewonsa Temple is right at the point where the valleys of Jangdanggol and Naewongol meet. It’s unlike any other temple, in that it looks more like a neat and secluded backyard of a mansion belonging to a Joseon nobleman. It was originally called Deoksansa Temple during the Silla Period, but it was renamed to Naewonsa after being restored from fire in 1959.

A small temple snugly situated in one of the valleys of Jirisan Mountain, Naewonsa and its natural surroundings look different every season, but the red autumn leaves in the front yard of Daeungjeon Hall particularly add to the elegance of the temple grounds.
